About Prague

The historic centre of the capital, consisting of four medieval settlement units the Old Town, New Town, Lesser Town and Hradčany, is the largest historical town reserve in the CR and brims with national cultural monuments. By right it has been included in the UNESCO world cultural heritage list.

When touring Prague, you shouldn't miss Prague Castle, the most prominent feature of the city, which is a textbook of architecture, the burial place of Czech Princes and Kings and the seat of the Office of the President of the Republic. (By the way, do you know, that it is the largest castle in Europe ?) Another remarkable monument is the ancient Charles Bridge, named after its founder,Charles IV. Visitors will be engrossed with the Old Town Square, a silent witness to many events of paramount significance for the Czech Kingdom with a unique astronomic clock situated in its centre, the National Theatre on the embankment of the Vltava river, a symbol of peculiar Czech national culture and the former Jewish Town, today the Josefov district with a number of synagogues and one of the oldest and most beautiful Jewish cemeteries in the world.
